For Graduate Student Conference Panelists

GCWS Graduate Student Conference

Documents for graduate student panelists

Congratulations on being accepted to our GCWS Graduate Student Conference! These documents should help you prepare your materials and presentation. Please contact the GCWS Program Manager, Stacey Lantz (slantz@mit.edu) if you have any questions.

Please complete the following items at least 30 days prior to the conference. If you have any problems or need assistance, please contact Stacey directly.

  1. Check your bio, keywords, and abstract listed on Sched.

  2. Create a profile for yourself at Sched. Please add a bio, picture, and any social media profiles you want people to know. Your email will not be available to attendees unless you list it in your bio. You should have received an invite to join Sched via email.

Expectations and guidelines for presenting at our upcoming conference

  1. Presentations should be 10 minutes in length. Each panel has 3-4 abstracts. Once each abstract is presented, there will be a Q&A session with the audience for the remainder of your time.

  2. If you are presenting virtually:

    • You must be live online and present for the scheduled day and time of your panel. You are welcome to film your presentation ahead of time, share your screen, and stream the prerecorded lecture. Alternatively, you may deliver your presentation live.

    • If you are going to create a powerpoint presentation, it must be done with Google slides. Slide deck links must be shared via the Zoom chat so that people can open the file and follow along. Set the document to “anyone with link can view”.

  3. Each panel will have a moderator who will introduce the speakers and facilitate the Q&A period.
